We are so pleased to have one of our early pioneers to Elkington Forest moving into the Show Home at Elkington Forest. While they wait for their house to be completed they will be living in the Show Home and participating in the community life, the gardening and work on site.
And what a palate of talent and enthusiasm!
Ginette and Kelly have been studying, planning, and working hands-on in organic gardening, permaculture, and food production for some time. Most recently they did this in their highly productive garden on the east coast, but now they are returning to their roots on Vancouver Island. Over the past month, Kelly completed the first stages of his training for passive house construction. Little James (2 years old) has been learning on the ground, as it were.
In addition, the Matthews have an infectious enthusiasm and curiousity about what it takes to create a community that is concerned about the planet, and how we live on this part of Vancouver Island. They will be building a small house on Lot 15 in the Trailhead Hamlet in the spring/summer of 2016, and and assisting with the
Planting and park preparation in the community gardens.
You also might see them at the Elkington Forest Open Houses on Saturdays and Sundays Open Houses from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
